Note for AVARTAN'15

This year we’ll forge ahead with the AVARTAN’15 which began its successful industry footprint in the year 2013. Excellence in industrial endeavors’ and stronghold of corporate relations has been a greater strength to NITIE through AVARTAN in all these years. LAKSHYA, PRERANA, and AROHAN are backbones of the strong bonding which NITIE now relish with the corporate world. Last year, the combined effort of LAKSHYA, PRERANA and AROHAN was successfully driven and executed with the proper integration from team members.

In AVARTAN 2014, for the first time, supply chain conclave was conducted where all the industry leaders from supply chain sectors participated with the full energy. Today, global economic turbulence and geopolitical factors are increasingly positioning supply chain management as a key agenda item in boardrooms across the world. E-commerce, 3D printing, supply chain analytics and “big data”, cloud-based software applications and human factors were discussed in detail during this event. All the students participated in this very important event with utmost learning keenness.

PRERANA business meet had the pleasure to have Mr. K.B.S. Anand, CEO, Asian paints in NITIE to share their views on current industry concerns and effects on world economy. Case studies were offered to students from the supply chain domain with difficult scenarios in today’s competitive world. NITIE has been awarded as the “Most Industry Focused Curriculum” in ET Education Excellence Awards, 2013. The same year we completed 50 glorious years of journey. Aditya Birla Group and Myntra offered a critical case study in the supply chain and operations field, whereas Schneider Electric had offered a case study in line with the PM Narendra Modi Smart cities concept.

Very high participation was registered and I congratulate to all the faculty members and students for continuing the legacy of the college. Even today NITIE is one of the best colleges in giving best supply chain and operation managers in the corporate sector worldwide. This was witnessed when all the B-schools corporate participated in the AVARTAN’14 from across the locations.

Now AVARTAN 2015 is waiting for the grand success this year. India has become the fastest growing large economy in the world. From a period of low growth, high inflation and shrinking production, now our GDP growth rocketed to 7.4%. The "Make in India" initiative is boosting entrepreneurship in India in all sectors.  Building the infrastructure for a resurgent India and towards a Cleaner India are initiatives’ being taken by our current government.

The manufacturing sector has taken us to the different growth levels and will do the same in the future if taken care well. We always keep our standards high to keep track of all the industry insights related to the business requirements and similarly this year we will be in line with the current Indian business and corporate requirements.

As Ralph Marston said, “Excellence is not a skill, it is an attitude”, so in continuation with this quote, I wish best of luck to all the students and faculty members for making this event a huge success this year also and going forward with a positive attitude.

FDI in Indian economy

FDI means foreign direct investment. When investors from foreign countries invest in other countries, it results into this transaction. Like every transaction, we have merits and demerits for FDI in India. Indian economy is at $2 trillion size currently and target is to achieve $10 trillion within 10 years. Can FDI will help in this or not? Talking about India's theory or perception on FDI, different groups have different views. After liberalization in 1991, we have permitted FDI in different sectors in 2000 + years or era. Now we have 49% FDI in defense, 100% in multi brand retail,, 100% in railways and many more, but still we have lot of sectors which are not open to FDI. Reasons are many, let's take on some pros and cons considering Indian economy. Pros: 1. FDI will result into high technology which Indian sectors need very much for innovation. 2. FDI will create jobs, when our 70% of the population is under age of 35. 3. Cheap resources and control on inflation with
